Dr. Fuller began her career in education as an elementary and middle school teacher in Fairfax County, Virginia. She served as a 4th grade general education teacher and a 7th/8th grade English teacher. Her career in higher education began at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and she spent 9 years there serving in various capacities such as Clinical Assistant Professor, Undergraduate Program Coordinator, Teacher Education Learning Community Coordinator, and Liaison for the Children's Defense Fund Freedom Schools Program.

She is a native of Martinsville, VA and received her B.A. in English from George Mason University. Her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction was also conferred at George Mason. She received her Ph.D. in Elementary Education from University of Virginia.

In her free time, Dr. Fuller is very active in her church, directing the youth choir and singing with the mass choir. She is a self-proclaimed TV junkie and loves the ID Channel. She currently resides in Monroe, NC.
