Dr. Ruvi English received her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Development from Virginia Tech. Prior to receiving her Ph.D., she trained as a marriage and family therapist in New York City where she focused her therapeutic work on helping families overcome challenges using a family systems approach. Her current work focuses on the impact of migration stress on refugee families resettled in the United States. At Winthrop University, Dr. English enjoys teaching courses on child and family development and mentoring students across their academic career. She is married to Marcus, a high school teacher. They reside in Charlotte.
