Dr. Adrienne L. Edwards earned a doctorate in Human Development with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Development from Virginia Tech. She is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) and active member of the National Council on Family Relations. Dr. Edwards is Program Director of the Human Development and Family Studies program at Winthrop University. Her research interests include intersectional developmental science, family processes in Families of Color, feminist family science, qualitative research methodologies, and family life education. Dr. Edwards has published research articles on racial socialization and family policy. Dr. Edwards is a recipient of the Jessie Bernard Outstanding Contribution to Feminist Scholarship Paper Award presented by the Feminism and Family Studies section of the National Council on Family Relations. She serves on advisory committees and advisory boards at the university and state levels. Dr. Edwards has served as President of the South Carolina Infant Mental Health Association. Prior to working in higher education, Dr. Edwards worked as a mental health therapist in Greenville, SC and supervised a staff of clinical counselors. Dr. Edwards enjoys teaching family studies courses and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in research projects. She is a native of Gaffney, SC and resides there with her daughter Laney.
