Instructional Technology; Integrating Technology into Curriculum Areas
Mrs. Camp has wanted to be an educator since she was an elementary school student. In fifth grade she volunteered in the special education classroom every day for a few hours, and during her senior year in high school, had the opportunity to work as a volunteer in her Kindergarten teacher's classroom during the week. Those experiences solidified her resolve to become a teacher. Mrs. Camp began her teaching career in 1997, working as an art teacher split between two elementary schools in North Carolina. In 2001, Mrs. Camp became the Technology Facilitator at one of those elementary schools. In 2009, Mrs. Camp helped open a new High School in Cabarrus County, and worked there as the Technology Facilitator. Mrs. Camp was asked to join Rowan-Salisbury Schools in 2014 as they embarked on their first year as a 1:1 school using Apple products. Mrs. Camp joined Winthrop in 2015 as the Director of the Instructional Technology Center in the College of Education. During most of this time, Mrs. Camp has also worked as an adjunct instructor for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, teaching an introduction to computers class. Mrs. Camp has also done extensive work training teachers how to integrate technology into their classroom and now enjoys being able to visit local schools to work with teachers and their students. Throughout all these experiences, Mrs. Camp has enjoyed having the opportunity to interact with students of all ages and backgrounds. She feels incredibly blessed to be able to work with students each day.
