The scholarly activities of Early Childhood and Elementary Education faculty include a number of areas related to their teaching fields (play in early childhood; integrating technology into teaching; activities for teaching mathematics, science, and social studies).
Faculty in the core areas of education have varied research interests which include assessment, evaluation of teaching, history of education, dispositions of teachers and teacher candidates, preparing teachers to work with diverse learners, and retention of teacher education candidates.
The scholarly interests of Literacy faculty focus on strategies for meeting the varied needs of a diverse array of learners (strategies for students with Limited English Proficiency; core-reading instruction; school-wide reading models; fostering cultural competence; emergent literacy; and comprehensive reading instruction in inclusive classrooms).
