Academic Support Services

Academic Instruction and Testing Center (AITC)

Opening in spring 2012, the AITC will administer tests for online courses, make-up tests, and tests for students who require additional time (as documented by the Office of Disability Services).  For more information and hours of operation, contact University College at ext. 3900.

Academic Success Center

The Center offers tutoring, online learning assessments, and other forms of academic support.  

Resource Center for Adult Students 
  108 Dinkins Hall
Support services for adults, transfers, and veterans will be offered through University College.  The office will provide these students with assistance and information they need to maximize their educational opportunities, after they have been admitted to Winthrop.  (Veterans should still contact the Veterans Benefits Office in 126 Tillman for information regarding VA benefits.)  For additional information, contact University College at ext. 3900.

Arts & Sciences Office of Student Services

The office provides a variety of academic support services, including clarifying questions about degree requirements, assisting students with the change of major process, and evaluating transfer credit from other institutions.

Career Development, Service Learning, and Volunteer and Community Service programs are housed in the Center.

Health and Counseling Services

The center provides individual and group counseling at no charge.  Information about CLEP, GRE, LSAT, MAT, and Praxis Series exams is also available.

Math Tutorial Center

The Math Tutorial Center (MTC) is open to students in the following MATH courses: MATH 101, MATH 104, MATH 105, MATH 150, MATH 151, MATH 201, and MATH 291. No appointment is needed.

Office of Disability Services

Hours: Posted on the Office of Disability Services Web site.  
The Office of Disability Services assists students with all types of disabilities, including mobility, hearing and visual impairments, learning disabilities, ADHD and chronic medical illnesses.  Services are extended by the University free of charge.

Writing Center

The Center offers assistance to students needing help with writing.
