Welcome to the Winthrop University Department of Social Work where we offer BSW and MSW degree programs that are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education as well as a minor in Social Welfare. The Department is also home to the Center for Social Welfare Research and Assessment which is highly engaged in projects involving program development, evaluation, and enrichment across the state and region.
At Winthrop you will find national caliber faculty dedicated to student learning, research, and community service. As a student-centered learning community, we follow the core social work values of the social work profession, including social justice, the dignity and worth of the person, and the importance of human relationships. Our students are actively engaged in an enriching learning environment that values learning based on scientific inquiry and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
Social work is the profession of people helping people. If you are committed to improving human lives, if you value human diversity, and if you believe in the importance of improving social systems and institutions such that they are more person-centered, then social work just may be the profession for you. I invite you to consider joining the social work learning community here at Winthrop where we are dedicated to state of the art social work education in a student-centered learning environment.
