Faculty & Staff Profiles

Sabrina Habib joined Winthrop University in 2015 as Mass Communication faculty to teach Integrated Marketing Communication courses. She holds a BFA in Photography (2000), an MFA in Electronic Media (2003), and a Ph.D. in Advertising from the University of Florida (2013). Prior to her academic experience, she owned a production studio in Gainesville, FL to service advertising clients, local businesses, and individuals. In parallel to the commercial work, she developed an extensive fine art exhibition record. Most of Habib's academic research has focused on the creative process and creative education, however,  she has also performed studies on science communication with emphasis on hydraulic fracturing. She employs a distinctive method of qualitative data collection and analysis using video as data, which reflects her extensive experience with the medium, and led her to present at conferences, publish a manuscript, and write a book chapter on the topic. Sabrina is a recipient of the Winthrop University Sponsored Program and Research grant, as well as a fellow of the Visiting Professor Program awarded by the Advertising Educational Foundation, which placed her at Young & Rubicam in NY.  Habib is a dedicated teacher, adviser, and an active member of Winthrop's campus, serving on many committees.  She performs peer-review of scholar research for multiple academic journals and attends key conferences yearly. She is also a member of professional and scholar organizations, serving on the board of the American Advertising Federation chapter of Charlotte, NC.
