Dr. Judge has been at Winthrop since 1999. He teaches all the biblical courses in the religious studies curriculum as well as courses having to do with early Christian thought and literature. He also teaches religion in America and various special topics courses. Having lived and studied in Europe for many years, he encourages students to study or travel abroad. Judge also teaches occasional religious studies courses that involve travel abroad, most recently to France and Israel. He also has been active in promoting undergraduate research.

Judge’s research program centers on the study of the New Testament Gospels. Current activities include work on a portion of the Sayings Gospel Q for the international Documenta Q project, some studies on the Gospel of John, and work on the Apocryphal Gospels.

Professionally, Judge is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Catholic Biblical Association, the American Conference for Irish Studies, and Catholic Scholars for Social Justice. In the community, he is a regular presenter for the Rock Hill Oratory Center for Spirituality and is a board member for The Haven Homeless Men’s Shelter.

He and his wife are both natives of western New York State and live in Rock Hill. They have two adult children.
