Internships are available and often serve as stepping-stones to employment and entry into professional careers. Although internships are not required for graduation, they are encouraged. Students can earn up to three hours of internship credit towards their biology degree. Internships are available at a variety of institutions and corporations in the metro Charlotte area. Annual Competition for Intern of the Year. To be considered, students must be currently enrolled at Winthrop University and have completed a for credit internship during the Spring, Summer, or Fall. Students must self-nominate by submitting a professional resume reflecting their internship and other experiences, an essay, and a recommendation from their internship employer. All the details are included on the attached flyer. Please encourage your students to take advantage of this opportunity and apply! Deadline for applications are due in March. The winner will receive $100 cash prize, be honored at the Student Life Awards Ceremony, and have their name inscribed on a plaque in the Career and Civic Engagement Office.
