ArtsBridge Program

June 26- July 2, 2022

Registration for ArtsBridge closes on March 31, 2022. REGISTER HERE TODAY!

About:

Winthrop’s ArtsBridge program is 100% grant funded, residential immersive arts learning experience held June 26- July 2, 2022, for teachers and sponsored students from their campus.

*Sponsored students must be rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors.

ArtsBridge students will earn university credit for a unique course that includes intensive, workshop-style instruction in dance, theatre, music, design and visual art with Winthrop faculty, who are all professional practicing artists and designers, giving students a true college classroom and studio experience.

For ArtsBridge teachers, it is a rare opportunity to receive continuing education credits to explore the value of learning in the arts, experience and develop a studio-mindset to accelerate project-based learning potential in their own classroom; not to mention unlocking their own personal creative confidence.

Cost:

All costs, including instruction, on-campus housing, and food have been generously provided by Arts Grow SC, which is funded by the South Carolina Arts Commission and the South Carolina Department of Education through American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) funds.

Note: Priority is given to (in the following order) SCDE’s Priority High Schools, High Schools located in SCAC’s Priority Counties, or High Schools with a poverty index of 50% or more. Please share this opportunity with your high school educators as promotional materials are still “in development.”

Application Process & Requirements:

There is no portfolio requirement or audition to attend ArtsBridge for the students or teachers. However, teachers will need to apply and be willing to participate in a short zoom consultation following registration to determine eligibility. Zoom Consultations will take place from April 4- 8, 2022 and scheduling options will be sent via email after April 1, 2022.

-Teachers must sponsor (attend with) 2 or 3 students from their campus. *Sponsored students must be rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors.

-In order to participate you must agree to Winthrop health and safety protocols.

-As the teacher, you agree to serve as the chaperone for your students while you are on campus.

Living On Campus Experience:

Living away from home and experiencing the independence and responsibility of college life is an exhilarating time. Winthrop cares about all aspects of your well-being. You'll be living in an air-conditioned residence hall with other Arts Bridge students in rooms separated by gender. Current Winthrop students will be on campus with you as resident assistants and mentors to provide help and encouragement. Eat well in the Thomson Dining Hall. Meals will consist of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are vegetarian and gluten-free options, and special dietary accommodations are made upon request. Coffee, snacks, and personal items are available for purchase at the DiGiorgio Campus Center. Want to work out? Swim? Run? You'll have access to our recreation center during your time here.
