Dear Alumni and Friends:

Thank you for a memorable 2017! The Alumni Association hosted or collaborated with campus departments to engage alumni in more than 30 events this year with over 800 alumni attendees. Nearly 900 alumni came by the Alumni Association tailgate during Homecoming & Reunion Weekend! We look forward to seeing you in 2018 at more alumni events. Check out below some of the exciting events and activities that are coming up in 2018:

Alumni Travel to Spain and Portugal

Reunite with fellow alumni May 12-23, 2018, while enjoying Spain and Portugal’s historic, religious, cultural and culinary delights, including the whimsical Parc Güell, charming Barri Gòtic and the Monastery of Montserrat in Barcelona; Saint George's Castle, Jerónimos Monastery and the National Palace in Lisbon; Porto, the birthplace of port wine; the quaint fishing port of Baiona; the famed Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela and much more!

The cost is $4,779 which covers round-trip air transportation with departure fees, a full-time travel director, twin room accommodations with private baths, 10 breakfasts, six dinners, one lunch, seven paid entrances, tips and more. Register now as space is limited. The balance for the trip is due to Hart Travel Partners by Feb. 1, 2018. Men’s Basketball Pre-Game Gathering in Rock Hill

Join the Alumni Association and Athletics for a pre-game gathering at the Roasting Company at 6 p.m. before the men’s basketball team takes on UNC Asheville in the Winthrop Coliseum on Thursday, Jan. 18. Winthrop Athletics will be hosting its weekly radio show from the Roasting Company from 6-7 p.m. in Rock Hill and all alumni and Eagle fans are invited to come for a pre-game happy hour. Drinks and appetizers will be provided. Game time is to be determined, as the game is currently on ESPNU’s list for national TV coverage, which may move it from the scheduled 7 p.m. tipoff to 9 p.m. The game time will be confirmed soon! Athletics Hall of Fame

The Winthrop Athletics Hall of Fame will welcome six new members at its annual Hall of Fame induction banquet. The induction dinner and ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 26, in the Richardson Ballroom of the DiGiorgio Campus Center, beginning at 6 p.m. The selections for the class are former head baseball coach Joe Hudak, former student-athletes Lisa Kingsmore ’09 (softball), Saidi Isaac ’08 (men's soccer) and Vinicius Bortolatto ’08 (men's tennis) as well as contributors and long-time Eagle supporters Vernon and Ann Terry. Four Alumni Running for Winthrop Board of Trustees Seat

The Winthrop Alumni Association holds two alumni-elected seats on Winthrop's Board of Trustees. The board has general supervision over and is vested with the conduct of the university. It has responsibility for the mission and long-term benefit of the university. There are four nominees for the 2018-2024 Winthrop Alumni Association seat on the Board of Trustees.

Voting will begin on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, and end on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018. All alumni may vote online for their candidate of choice. If you prefer a paper ballot, please request one by calling the Office of Alumni Relations at 800/578-6545. You must provide your alumni ID number and class year, located in the address block on the back of the most recent edition of the Winthrop Magazine, to request a paper ballot or vote online. Savannah Alumni Reception

Savannah, Georgia, Winthrop alumni, mark your calendars! Savannah-area alumni will gather on Thursday, Feb. 8, at Soho South Café from 6-8 p.m. Athletics Director Ken Halpin will share updates about Winthrop Athletics.
