Homecoming & Reunion Weekend 2017: Save the date for Homecoming this Nov. 13-18! Some of the featured events for the festivities include:

  • "A Retrospective Exhibition" by Nancy Thomas '67, '81
    • Monday, Nov. 13-Sunday, Nov. 19, Lewandowski Student Gallery, McLaurin Hall
  • "The Finer Things: Dining and Dishware at Winthrop" (Sponsored by Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections)
    • Wednesday, Nov. 15, 5-7 p.m., Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections
    • The Pettus Archives hosts a special exhibit during Homecoming & Reunion Weekend featuring china, silverware, dishes and other material highlighting dining at Winthrop from the 1890s-1960s. For more information e-mail the Pettus Archives or call 803/323-2334.
  • Alumni Faculty/Staff Luncheon, (Sponsored by the Alumni Association)
    • Thursday, Nov. 16, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Richardson Ballroom, DiGiorgio Campus Center
    • Faculty and staff who are Winthrop alumni are invited to attend a catered lunch in recognition of their collective service to their alma mater.
  • Garnet & Gold Friday (Sponsored by the Alumni Association)
    • Friday, Nov. 17, all day everywhere – show your Winthrop pride by wearing garnet and gold. Send your photos to alumni@winthrop.edu.
  • Campus trolley tours
    • Friday, Nov. 17, 3-5 p.m., front of Tillman Hall
    • Saturday, 9-11  a.m., front of Tillman
  • Winthrop Memorabilia Display
    • Friday, Nov. 17, 3-5 p.m., first floor of Tillman Hall
    • Saturday, Nov. 18, 9-11 a.m., first floor of Tillman Hall
  • Homecoming on the Green
    • Friday, Nov. 17, 6-10 p.m., Campus Green
    • Join alumni and students, faculty and staff and the Winthrop community at the center of campus for a family-friendly event featuring food trucks, music and more. The Winthrop Bookstore will be open until 8 p.m. so that you can purchase Winthrop gear.
  • 10th Anniversary Celebration of West Center
    • Friday, Nov. 17, 6-9 p.m., West Center
    • The Lois Rhame West Health, Physical Education and Wellness Center will host a drop-in during Homecoming on the Green featuring tours and activities in celebration of the building's 10th anniversary. The 36-foot rock climbing wall will be open for visitors.

Alumni Travel to Spain: Reunite with fellow alumni May 12-23, 2018, while enjoying Spain and Portugal’s historic, religious, cultural and culinary delights, including the stunning Sagrada Familia Cathedral and Parc Guell in Barcelona; Monastery of Montserrat; St. George’s Castle and Alfama district in Lisboa; Sintra and its National Palace; Porto and Coimbra; Baiona in northwest Spain; and Santiago de Compostela. The cost is $4,779 which includes 10 breakfasts, six dinners, one lunch, four expert guided tours, six attraction entrances, twin rooms, and tips. A $500 deposit and registration are due to Hart Travel Partners by Dec. 1, 2017, with the balance due by Feb. 1, 2018. Winthrop/Adidas Sideline Gear Flash Store:
Purchase official Winthrop /Adidas gear for Homecoming & Reunion Weekend and the fall sports season! The flash store will be live until 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31.

82nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting: Spread holiday cheer by attending the 82nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Winthrop on Friday, Dec. 1. Enjoy performances by the Winthrop RockHettes and Winthrop Chorale while you sip hot cocoa and munch on holiday cookies. President Dan Mahony and his family will lead the countdown to light the Southern Magnolia Tree. Admission is free.
