Class of 1971 50-Year Reunion

The time has finally arrived for our 50-year Winthrop reunion! Although our reunion
year was 2021, the Class of 1971 50th reunion committee wanted to select a date to
celebrate on campus when we felt safe to do so. Mark your calendars for our reunion
weekend on Winthrop’s campus, April 29-30, 2022! We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Join the Winthrop Class of 1971 page on Winthrop Connect for more updates and join classmates in reminiscing as we prepare to celebrate our
golden reunion.
You can view the Class of 1971 reunion brochure and schedule of events online via the links. For questions about our reunion weekend, please contact the

A few key dates to remember:
- Tuesday, March 1 - '71, Second to None video recording due
- Monday, March 28 - Mini-Tatler Form Deadline

your help to compile the Class of 1971 Mini-Tatler! Please complete the form and submit
by March 28.
- If you like, include a current photograph of yourself. Please note: we are not able
to return any mailed photos.
- You can also complete the form online, mail in your form to the Alumni Association
or e-mail your information to Brittany Neely ’14, alumni engagement coordinator, at neelyb@winthrop.edu. Your current photo can be submitted digitally with the completed form.
- Please note that your completed Mini-Tatler form only needs to be submitted via mail
or e-mail.
- Even if you are unsure if you will be able to attend our golden reunion, please complete
the form so our classmates will know what you have been doing since 1971! If you cannot

at alumni@winthrop.edu.

’71, Second to None
To make our reunion weekend extra special, the reunion committee is requesting your
help in putting together a movie that will be shown during our reunion weekend on
the big screen in Dina’s Place, the Winthrop theatre. It’s going to be an “Opening
Night” for the debut of our very own movie, “’71, Second to None,” and YOU are the
stars! Get ready for your close-ups!
Here is how you can help. Record yourself on a smartphone video and bring us up to
date on your life. Videos are due by Tuesday, March 1. Below are some questions to get you started. Please limit your answers to 30 seconds
so we can include everyone's submissions.
Questions to answer in your video:
- What’s the latest news on you and your family?
- What’s the funniest memory you have from Winthrop?
- Did life turn out the way you imagined it?
- Looking back, what did the experience of being at a women’s college during the 60s
and into the 70s mean for you?
- What was your biggest lesson learned at Winthrop?
- Do you have any memories of the fountain?
- What advice would you give your young self as you prepared to go off to college?
Tips on your video recording:
- You can use your smartphone to record. The video quality on most smartphones is excellent.
- If you have an iPhone, go to Settings-Camera-Record Video and make sure it says either
1080p HD at 60 fps or 4K at 60 fps. This will ensure the highest quality video.
- Film your video holding the phone horizontally; otherwise, you end up with black bars
on the side. Do not shoot vertically.
- Move no more than 5 feet away from the phone, so your audio is clear.
- Answer all the questions if you can; add any creative messages you want to send us
as well.
- Limit your answer to each question to :30 seconds.
- It doesn’t matter if you are coming to the reunion or not, send us your video! It
will be made available for everyone!
- E-mail your video to Cecily Truett Lancit at cecily@lancitdigitalmedia.com
This is so easy to do and will be great fun. Please help — it should only take 10
minutes of your time and will mean the world to all of us classmates to hear from
you! Thank you for helping to make our reunion weekend extra special!
We look forward to celebrating with you in April!
