Vice President's Welcome
Dear Friends of Winthrop:
Thanks for your interest in connecting with one of the best universities of our kind in the South. As a public comprehensive university, Winthrop has as its mission producing graduates who are prepared for successful careers, engaged in our democratic society, responsive to local and global concerns, and grounded in values that give meaning to their lives.
You play an important role in supporting that mission. Our success hinges upon partnership with alumni and friends like you who place a premium on giving. Whether you choose to provide internships or other opportunities, connect with students and faculty to improve academic programs, volunteer to serve our campus community, or invest through philanthropic gifts to Winthrop, you exemplify the long-standing tradition of leaving the university a better place for your having been here.
I join you in the excitement and possibilities surrounding that tradition. While I'm new to Winthrop, I'm a native and long-time South Carolinian, and I consider it my privilege to have made a career of assisting donors improve the lives of students across the Palmetto state and beyond. As a vice president at Winthrop, I'm eager to listen to your stories, learn about your ideas, and lead this talented team of advancement professionals. Please feel free to contact me as you consider how you may become involved in our mission helping as many students as possible benefit from a Winthrop University education.
I hope you'll explore the links at the left to learn more about our work and all it means to the students we serve.
With Eagle pride,
William D. Nicholson II, Ph.D.
