Winthrop Recruiter Christine ShannonHey there! My name is Christine Shannon and I am an Admissions Counselor at Winthrop University from Hopkins, South Carolina. I graduated high school from Thomas Sumter Academy in 2015 and from Winthrop in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a focus in Broadcasting and a minor in Photography.

During my time at Winthrop, I became involved in numerous student organizations, Greek life, conducted undergraduate research, participated in an internship, and even founded a student interest organization called ‘Winthrop in Wonderland’. What I love the most about Winthrop is the welcoming and diverse campus community. When I first stepped onto the beautiful campus, I immediately felt accepted for who I was and didn’t feel as if I needed to be a certain way to fit in here.  Inclusiveness and finding the ‘right fit’ were very important to me during my college decision process.

My advice to students is to get involved within the Winthrop Community in any way possible – whether that be joining an organization, attending a sports event, or even just becoming more involved in your classes. It’s a great way to discover new interests and meet new friends! Winthrop provides great opportunities and resources to their students to ensure that all graduates are not only successful in their future endeavors, but also happy with their college experience.

If you have any questions, thoughts, concerns, or just want to chat, please contact me!
