What makes Winthrop special? Involvement! There are so many ways to get involved, on campus and off, that allow you to do what you love, meet people, and find your niche.
What do you love about Winthrop? There is community here. Winthrop itself is an inviting environment. Whether it’s
campus as a whole, a club or organization that you’re a part of, or venturing out
into Rock Hill and surrounding areas, there is always something to do and people to
hang out with.
Favorite restaurant in Rock Hill: There are too many great options… the new Hobo’s across the street has great food
and an amazing outdoor atmosphere. If you go there, make sure to try their pimento
fritters or boxcar taters!
What is your favorite event to attend in Rock Hill? You can always find live music in Rock Hill. Downtown Rock Hill has a really cool
Blues and Jazz Festival in the spring!
What is your favorite thing about Rock Hill? Rock Hill is very original. There are so many great local restaurants, musicians,
historical buildings, events, and outdoor spaces.
Why pick Winthrop: Winthrop University has so much to offer. I’ve already mentioned the amazing involvement
opportunities, but there are also a lot of unique educational opportunities as well.
We have on campus resources and involved faculty members that allow students to receive
additional help. Winthrop is very involved with student success for both current
students and alumni.
What advice do you have for students during their search process? Have fun! Tour colleges as much as you can and really imagine yourself as a student
there. Being a student means balancing classes, friendships, jobs, and other everyday
occurrences. Think about what makes sense for YOU academically, financially, and
holistically.
Favorite Movie(s): The Princess Bride and Shrek
Favorite Band: Queen! “Somebody to Love” is my favorite song.
Favorite Food: Anything cheesy and preferably Mexican style
Hobbies: I love listening to true crime podcasts, rewatching episodes of Friends, and hanging out with my dogs!
