The Minor in Women's Studies
Mission of the Women's
Studies Program
The mission of the Winthrop University women's
studies program is three-fold:
1) to provide a rigorous,
interdisciplinary minor program to undergraduate
students at Winthrop University;
2) to promote women's studies in the
Winthrop University and Rock Hill communities,
and the state of South Carolina; and
3) to provide opportunities for
interested faculty members and students to collaborate and
interact.

Women's
Studies Minor
Winthrop University offers an interdisciplinary
minor to undergraduate students interested in
a focused study of women's issues. The minor
consists of 18 hours, including WMST 300
(Introduction to Women's Studies). Core courses
are cross listed between their "host" discipline
(such as English, for literature courses), and
the women's studies program. Students may enroll
under either designator or women's studies
designator, -Students may
also opt for a directed readings or independent
study courses. In addition, students may count up to
six hours in selected courses toward the minor.
