Fall 2014 Regional Retirement Seminars

If you are one year or less away from retirement eligibility, the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority (PEBA) wants to help ensure you have the information you need to make the retirement decisions that are best for you. We offer a one-day retirement seminar designed to answer your questions and more. Presenters from PEBA Retirement and Insurance Benefits, the South Carolina Deferred Compensation Program, and the Social Security Administration will provide you with the information needed to successfully navigate the retirement process. Payroll Update for Fiscal Year 2014-15

The final phase of the retirement contribution rate increase will occur in the 2014-15 fiscal year. Employees who are currently participating in one of the retirement system programs will see the rate increase in their first pay that occurs on or after July 1. Please see below for the rate increase amount for each retirement system program.
•Retirement contribution rate
-South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS) – Increase from 7.5% to 8.0%
-Optional Retirement Program (ORP) – Increase from 7.5% to 8.0%
-Police Officers Retirement System (PORS) – Increase from 7.84% to 8.41%

Also, all regular faculty and staff will receive a 2% general increase for the 2014-15 fiscal year. The details of this pay change are available in Wingspan in the Job Summary/Detail section of the Employee tab.

Summer Writing Center Hours

Basketball Camp Faculty/Staff Discount

Faculty and staff will receive a special discount when they sign children up for the Pat Kelsey Basketball Camp. Sessions will take place from June 13-July 31 for ages four through teenagers in the ninth grade. Prices (before the discount) range from $40 to $235.

Faculty/Staff Volleyball Camp Discount

The Eagles volleyball program is offering a special 10% discount for faculty and staff for its July 17-28 camp sessions. Sessions are designed for all ages and will teach basic to advanced skills.

Camp sessions cost between $50 for an elite positional session to $250 for an advanced skills camp.

Three Technology Camps Offered in July

As you make plans for the summer please be aware of a great opportunity for your middle and high school students. Three technology camps will be offered in July on the Winthrop campus.
•July 7-11 Computing and Jewelry Design (for middle school girls)
•July 14-18 Computing and Robotics (for middle school students)
•July 21-25 Computing and Music (for high school students)

Grant funding has reduced the camp cost to $125 per camper. In addition, a limited number of scholarships are available.

Camps are limited to just 20 participants each; apply early to be considered for the camps.
