Subtitled “A Trivial Comedy for Serious People” and one of the most enduringly popular comedies of all time, this masterpiece is Wilde at the height of his powers of wit and satire. Among the most sparkling and urbane plays in the English language, the plot revolves around two pairs of lovers and an ingenious case of manufactured mistaken identities.
