Instructions for
Creating,
Downloading, Uploading, and Restoring Backups
Creating a Backup
It is a good idea backup a course from time to time to insure
that in the event you loose some content, you can retrieve it by
restoring a previously saved backup. To backup a course:
- Click
Control Panel
- Click
Manage Course
- Under Backup Course, click
Create Backup
- Type in a short label for your backup
and click Create
- Click
Continue
Downloading a Backup
You can use this method to store course content on your
computer. You can also use this method to replicate content
from one course to another. To download a backup:
- Click
Control Panel
- Click
Manage Course
- Click
Backup Course
- Select the backup you wish to download
- One the right side under Actions,
Options: Backup Files, click Download
- In the file download window that pops
up, click Save
- Select a location on your computer you
wish to save the file in and click Save
- After you finish saving, click
Close
Uploading a Backup
You can use this method to retrieve course content
on your computer, or to upload an e-Pack. To upload a backup:
- Click
Control Panel
- Click
Manage Course
- Under Backup Course, click
Upload
Backup
- Next to Filename, click
Browse
- Locate the backup zip file you wish to
upload, and click Open
- Click
Upload
- Click
Continue
Restoring a Backup
If you wish activate the backup in your new course,
or replace existing content with that of your backup, you will
need to use the restore function. To restore a backup:
- Click Control Panel
- Click Manage Course
- Click Backup Course
- Select the backup you wish to restore
- One the right side under Actions,
Options: Backup Files, click either Restore (replace
students) if you wish to overwrite existing student
data, or Restore (keep students) if you don’t want to
loose student data in the course.

When
popup window appears saying “Warning: Restoring this backup
file will overwrite all data in the current course.
Proceed?” Click OK

When a
message appears saying success: the course has been
restored, click Continue
