A Office of Community Arts – Don Rogers
      1.  Thank you for CVPA's support and assistance for the 2005 Medal of Honor in the Arts Ceremony
      2.  The Director's position of the Office of Community Arts is remaining vacant in Spring 2006
      3.  Some of the duties have been picked up by the CVPA Dean's Office
      4.  Using some of the money saved by the vacancy for new recruiting materials for CVPA
           a. portable high-end display

B.  Winthrop Galleries - Karen Derksen for Tom Stanley
      1.  Current Exhibitions in Rutledge
      2.  Exhibition opening tonight in the Lewandowski Student Gallery (McLaurin) - Art Education
      3.  Fri. February 10 - Opening of South by South Africa exhibition 
           a.  The Department of Music's African Drum Ensemble will provide music for opening
       4. Thurs. Dec. 8 - 11 a.m. - 127 Rutledge - presentation by Nicholas de Klerk, creator of the installation
           concept for "Beautiful Things: A Showcase of South African Crafts."
            a. de Klerk will be visiting from South Africa

      1.  Conducting faculty search to replace Alf Ward who is retiring in May - jewelry and metals

           a.  Phil Moody - Arts Council of Rock Hill and York County
           b.  Seymour Simmons - recent show at the Gettys Building downtown Rock Hill
      3.  International Exchange
           a.  Faculty members Shaun Cassidy and Phil Moody went to Finland to visit possible exchange program
           b.  Shaun Cassidy is planning a faculty exchange with a school in Finland
           c.  Most European universities are on a different system than American universities
                i.  the number of contact hours for classes must be clarified prior to exchanges.

      2.  Committee is on schedule

           d.  Campus visits next semester

B.  Elections of CVPA Representatives to university committees with terms beginning in Fall 2006
      1.  University-wide Budget Priorities - Sandra Neels, Theatre and Dance - 3 year term
      2.  University-wide Faculty Concerns - Jennifer Belk, Art and Design - 3 year term
      3.  University-Wide Faculty Personnel - L. H. Dickert, Music - 3 year term
      4.  University-wide Academic Council - Mark Hamilton, Art and Design - 3 year term

C.  Review of Undergraduate Curriculum Actions 
     
1.  All undergraduate Curriculum Actions were passed by the CVPA Faculty Assembly

Note:  There was a brief meeting of the CVPA Graduate Faculty immediately following the CVPA Faculty Assembly.

All faculty members of the College of Visual and Performing Arts who hold membership in the Faculty Conference shall be members of the Faculty Assembly.  Membership in the Faculty Conference is extended to every person who holds rank as instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or professor at Winthrop University, with the following exceptions: lecturers, adjunct faculty, and visiting faculty are not members of Faculty Conference. The eligibility of an individual who does not hold membership in the Faculty Conference shall be determined by the Faculty Assembly.
