A.  Department of Music – Don Rogers
 - Conservatory of Music is packed - holding one class in the lobby of the Recital Hall
 - part-time instructors all seem to be in place
 - Numerous performances to be held this year

B.   Department of Theatre and Dance – Andrew Vorder Bruegge
 
- Auditions are complete for the Fall Productions for Theatre and Dance
 - Over 80 dance students auditioned and over 80 students for 3 productions
 - In February 2006, the SC Dance Festival will be held at Winthrop University
    - Over 600 will attend from the state and region
    - This will include guest artists and performances
 - Actors Theatre of Charlotte
    - approached Winthrop about initiating an internship program with Winthrop Theatre and Dance students
    - This program will allow Winthrop T&D students to perform alongside professional actors/actresses
    - Actors Theatre will be on campus next week to audition
    - Not many T&D programs offer their students the opportunity to be involved in professional quality work such as the
       productions found at Actors Theatre

C.  Arts in Basic Curriculum Project – Christine Fisher
 
- Winthrop University is the location of the ABC Project, a South Carolina Leader in Arts Education
 
- 36 schools in 5 school districts are designated ABC sites
 - Received an extension on the ABC outreach grant until February
 - Final language of the SC k-12 PE bill

D.  Office of Student Services – Kimberly Wright
 - Summer Orientations went well
 - Thank you to those who attended/participated in the CVPA Freshman Assembly
 - Graduation Reception - Friday, December 16 - Lewandowski Student Gallery
 - Dean's Tea - Thurs. April 20, 2006 - 4:30 p.m.

B.  Professional Development presentation:  Sabbaticals & residential creative achievements – presentations by faculty who recently were on sabbatical about the process and the experience (Seymour Simmons, Jeannie Woods, and Ron Parks) 
 
- Ron Parks - 3-week composing residency at the Copeland House in upstate New York
 - Seymour Simmons - one year sabbatical to Paris, France
 - Jeannie Woods - summer trip to China to direct a play at the Shanghai Theatre Academy

All faculty members of the College of Visual and Performing Arts who hold membership in the Faculty Conference shall be members of the Faculty Assembly.  Membership in the Faculty Conference is extended to every person who holds rank as instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or professor at Winthrop University, with the following exceptions: lecturers, adjunct faculty, and visiting faculty are not members of Faculty Conference. The eligibility of an individual who does not hold membership in the Faculty Conference shall be determined by the Faculty Assembly.
