“How We Got Here From There”
“How We Got Here From There” is a transportation exhibit housed at the Rock Hill/York County Sports and Tourism Commission with displays of an early dugout, covered wagon, buggy and an Anderson automobile, along with photos that showcase life in early Rock Hill. The exhibit explores the combination of geographic location and evolution of transportation that led to the founding of Rock Hill.

Kings Mountain National Military Park/ Kings Mountain State Park and Campground
The third largest military park in the country, King Mountain National Military Park offers a reenactment of the battle of King Mountain, known to historians as the turning point battle of the American Revolution. A visitors center, films, and a museum about the battle and its relevance to the Revolution are available. A living history farm shows visitors agrarian life in the 1850s. The adjoining state park offers camping, bridle trails, playgrounds, swimming, paddling, 16 miles of hiking trains, fishing and picnic areas.

Knights Stadium
Located directly off Interstate 77, exit 88 on Gold Hill Road, Knights Stadium is the home of the Charlotte Knights, International League member and a Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. The state-of-the-art 10,000-seat stadium with video scoreboard features the Home Plate Café sports restaurant, 22 luxury skyboxes, meeting space, picnic areas, playground with carousel and miniature golf.

Lake Wylie
Covering a surface area of more than 12,000 acres, Lake Wylie is a fisherman’s and water sports enthusiast’s paradise. Its 325 miles of shoreline extend into both Carolinas. The lake is a perfect setting for sailing, paddling, skiing, fishing and pleasure boating. There are numerous public accesses available throughout the country.

Landsford Canal State Park
This 250-acre park provides a unique understanding of South Carolina’s history, as well as offering an array of wildlife in a natural setting. The park is the site of an intact portion of canals that were originally built in the 1820s to ease the movement of goods along the Catawba River. The park features fishing, a nature trail along the canal, picnic areas, playground, and a museum and interpretive center showing how the canal worked.

The museum features inter-disciplinary programs and exhibitions based on art, history and natural history collections. Exhibits include the Stans African Hall, one of the nation’s most comprehensive exhibitions of African animals in natural habitat dioramas, and other African cultural artifacts. The museum also features the Settlemyre Planetarium and nature trails.

River Park
Located on the Catawba River, this 70-acre Rock Hill park features nature trails, a picnic area and canoe launch site.

Rock Hill Telephone Company Museum
Located in downtown Rock Hill, the museum traces more than 100 years of service to the area. Beginning with a video of the company’s origins, the tour encompasses the history of the company along with a hands-on display of the technological advances that have kept it at the forefront of the telecommunications industry.

Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill
Visitors may see cider made and purchase such apple products as apple pies, apple butter, cider donuts, wassail, as well as fresh apples. Open seasonally.
