Distinction in Leadership

Distinction in Leadership Mission Statement

Winthrop University’s Distinction in Leadership Program uses the college experience to develop and enhance leadership skills for highly talented and motivated students.  The program allows students to design and create a leadership development portfolio to enhance any major and career goal.  Through interactions with outstanding faculty, leadership mentors, and peers a community of leaders is created that embraces the pursuit of leadership for the enhancement of personal, organizational, and community growth.

Distinguishing Features

The Winthrop University Distinction in Leadership (DL) Program is one of the university’s most exciting interdisciplinary offerings.  The program is not a major nor a minor but a didactic, experiential, and reflective program to develop leadership skills.  The DL Program takes at least two years and ideally three to four years to complete.  Students have various options to develop leadership skills that complement their personal and professional goals.  The Distinction in Leadership program integrates Live & Learn to Lead.
