  • Six alumni of Winthrop's Fine Arts program had their artwork installed at the Family Trust Center on White Street in Rock Hill this month (August 2015). The pieces highlight Family Trust's values and historical ties to the textile industry. Check out the story in the Herald.
     
  • Award-winning presentations from Winthrop University McNair Scholars: Five of 18 Scholars captured awards at the 21st annual SAEOPP National McNair Research Symposium in June 2015. Congratulations!
     
  • Forty-five Winthrop students pursued research in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, mathematics, and geology during the 2015 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE).
     
  • Over 100 Winthrop undergraduates presented research or creative work at conferences during 2014-2015; at least 37 students won awards for their work. Way to go!

Events and Deadlines

  • Applications for the 2016 McNair Scholars Program will be available online in early September and due shortly after Fall Break. Visit the McNair Scholars page for more details.
     
  • The annual SURE Poster Session will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015, from 2-4 PM in Richardson Ballroom (DIGS). Please come to learn about the exciting work these students did this summer!
     
  • Friday, October 2, 2015, is the deadline to apply for undergraduate research travel funds for travel during the Fall 2015 semester. Please visit the Student Travel Funding page for more information.
     
  • The "Water in the World" interdisciplinary conference will be held at Winthrop November 6-7, 2015.
     
  • Friday, February 5, 2016, is the deadline to apply for undergraduate research travel funds for travel during the Spring 2016 semester. Please visit the Student Travel Funding page for more information.
     
  • NCUR (National Conference on Undergraduate Research) will be hosted by UNC-Asheville, April 7-9, 2016. Abstracts are due December 2, 2015
     
  • The Annual Meeting of the South Carolina Academy of Science will be held at Winthrop on Saturday, April 16, 2016.
