Learning Initiatives for Freshmen and Transfers (L.I.F.T.)
L.I.F.T provides freshmen and new transfer students who earned less than a 3.0 during their first semester, the opportunity to receive individualized support and guidance while working toward academic success. Participation in the LIFT program is voluntary for students. Invitations to participate are sent after grades are posted in December.
The program pairs each freshman or transfer student with a Peer Mentor who will meet with the student weekly to discuss academic progress, study skills, upcoming assignments, and general transition issues. The Peer Mentor and LIFT students will set a weekly meeting time that is convenient to both schedules and will have a set of topics to discuss at each meeting.
L.I.F.T. helps students keep scholarships, utilize support services, and achieve personal and academic goals. Eligible students should contact the Assistant Dean of University College at williamsonm@winthrop.edu for more information.
