Dr. Dimaculangan has served as the Director of Undergraduate Research for Winthrop University since the university-wide Undergraduate Research Office was established in the fall of 2011. Previously he served as the Director of Undergraduate Research for College of Arts and Sciences from 2003 until 2011. As the Director, he serves as Winthrop’s representative to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research and the Big South Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Dr. Dimaculangan also is a professor and the chair of the biology department. He received a B.A. in biopsychology from Hiram College in Ohio and his Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology at the University of South Carolina. He completed a National Institutes of Health (NIH) postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa. prior to joining the faculty at Winthrop in 1994.
