RESOLUTION REGARDING THE OPERATING BUDGET AND
STUDENT FEES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2007-08
WHEREAS, the respective Boards of Trustees at state institutions
of higher learning are empowered to determine schedules of
student fees; and
WHEREAS, on June 8, 2007, the Board of Trustees resolved to
empower the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees to be
authorized to adopt the 2007-08 fee schedule once the General
Assembly adopted a state budget for the fiscal year beginning
July 1; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees was
also authorized to adopt the Winthrop University operating
budget on behalf of the Board once the General Assembly had
passed the Appropriations Act; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Executive Committee of the Board of
Trustees at Winthrop University have examined the fee structure
at Winthrop University; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Executive Committee of the Board of
Trustees have examined the projected resources and projected
commitments for 2007-2008; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Executive Committee of the Board
recognize their fiduciary responsibility to ensure that the
University’s budget strikes a balance between actual resources
and commitments;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the proposed fee schedules for
2007-2008 as attached hereto and incorporated by reference be
adopted by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the operating budget as reflected on
the attached Allocation Status Report be adopted by the
Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Executive Committee of the Board
of Trustees be authorized to amend the approved Winthrop
University operating budget and take any other actions on behalf
of the Board as might be necessary after the General Assembly
has considered and acted upon any gubernatorial vetoes affecting
the Appropriations Act for the fiscal year beginning July 1.
