RESOLUTION TO APPROVE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS POLICY
WHEREAS, the issues related to defining
and regulating the rights and responsibilities related to
intellectual endeavors and intellectual property are central
to the purposes of Winthrop University and all institutions of
higher education; and
WHEREAS, the administration and faculty
of Winthrop University have appropriately identified a need to
review and revise the University’s policies due to significant
developments over the past decade in technology and the
ability to store and transmit intellectual property; and
WHEREAS, the resulting Intellectual
Property Rights policy developed by the faculty and
recommended by the administration is the result of significant
research and campus-wide consultation;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of
Winthrop University that the Intellectual Property Rights
policy recommended by the Academic Council and the President
is hereby acknowledged and approved.
