RESOLUTION
TO ADOPT THE GENERAL RECORDS
RETENTION SCHEDULE FOR STATE COLLEGES AND
UNIVERSITIES CREATED BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA
DEPARTMENT OF ARCHIVES AND HISTORY
WHEREAS, Section 30-1-90(B) of the Code of Laws,
1976, as amended, authorizes the State Archives to promulgate as
state regulations the general schedules for records common to
state-supported colleges and universities; and
WHEREAS, the General Records Retention Schedule of State
Colleges and Universities requires universities to protect
certain documents and gives guidelines for the retention and
disposition of common records; and
WHEREAS, Winthrop University desires to ensure compliance with
record retention schedules set forth in the General Records
Retention Schedule of State Colleges and Universities;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees of
Winthrop University does hereby authorize the adoption of the
General Records Retention Schedule of State Colleges and
Universities as Winthrop University policy and procedure, and
authorizes the president and his designee(s) to implement it
accordingly.
