The Winthrop University Board of Trustees has general supervision over and is vested with the conduct of the university. It has responsibility for the mission and long-term benefit of the university. Fourteen members comprise the board, including the Governor of South Carolina and the State Superintendent of Education (or designees) who serve in an ex officio capacity. The 12 other members are either elected by joint ballot of the state Senate and House of Representatives, appointed by the governor, or elected by the alumni association. The Chair of the Faculty Conference and the Chair of the Council of Student Leaders also serve as non-voting members. |
