Purpose of Organization:  To foster an appreciation of literature in students.
Description of Organization:  The Winthrop Literary Society, the oldest student-organization on campus, meets every two weeks to discuss works of literature (prose, poetry, short stories, and excerpts) both classic and contemporary and also holds member-exclusive movie nights once a month; it participates in community service projects that promote literacy; is involved in several academic events such as sponsoring speakers; and is also involved in the annual English Department Graduate and Undergraduate Conference.
Planned Projects/Events: Halloween midnight reading; end of semester holiday party; murder mystery dinner party; movie nights; more TBA
