Purpose of Organization: The purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc is to cultivate and encourage high scholastics and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of SERVICE TO ALL MANKIND.
Description of Organization: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is the 1st African American Greek Letter Organization, and we believe in "Service to ALL Mankind". We were founded January 15, 1908 on the campus of Howard University.
Planned Projects/Events: Along with our annual Founders' Week, the chapter holds award winning programs such as Freshmeat and Zumba in the Dark. The chapter provides service to the community on local and national level through volunteering at Boyd Hill and helping out with the EYL program.
