Brief Description of GA Positions:
The Graduate Assistant
for Multicultural Student Life must possess the qualities of an
outgoing personality, should have good public relations skills and
organizational abilities. In addition to these personal attributes, he or she
must be able to do the following:
* Work 20 hours a week
* Work directly under the Student Development Coordinator for
Multicultural Student Life / National Student Exchange
* Represent Student Development at Winthrop University Open Houses
* Assist with programming
* Computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Word &
Publisher for purposes of designing flyers and brochures
Graduate Assistant
for Multicultural Student Life General Overview of Responsibilities
1. Design monthly MSL bulletin boards (Thomson Cafeteria and Dinkins Student
Center)
2. Design mini programs
3. Provide sign-in sheets for all MSL programs (this will serve as an evaluation
tool)
4. Serve as a liaison between the Office of MSL and multicultural
organizations
o Association of Ebonites (A.O.E.)
o The Bridge > o International Klub
o National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(N.A.A.C.P.)
o The Roddey-Macmillan (Multicultural Newspaper)
o Taking Integrity Back (T.I.B.)
5. Assist with major programming (ex. Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, MLK Day
Observance, etc.)
