The Office of Multicultural Student Life and the Multicultural
Student Council invites the Winthrop University community to
participate in this year’s Kwanzaa event.
Highlighting the principle of Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics),
the goal is to promote a mutual support system for small business
and entrepreneurship in the local community.
This year’s event will feature “celebrations in song and sound” by
The Association of Ebonites, The West African Drum Ensemble and
Winthrop University graduate, Kayla Baker. In addition, Mr.
Derrick Barksdale will be on hand to discuss such topics as the
benefits of forming business relationships with local
establishments, the importance of entrepreneurship to the local
economy, and ways in which we can all work together to support small
businesses.
