Room Assignments and Move-in
Check in procedure
check in, residents will go to their residence hall unloading area to unload their
things. New residents will be assigned room key and complete hall registration
information. Each resident must sign a room condition report accepting
responsibility for their room furnishings and equipment.
First Floor Meeting
Attendance at the first floor meeting is required. Hall policies and other important information will be explained. Housing assignments are verified at this meeting. Residents not verified by their Resident Assistant (R.A.) 24 hours after classes begin each semester will be counted as “no shows” and their room reservations canceled with possible cancellation fees, unless the Department of Residence Life has been notified in advance. All first year and second year students are required to live on campus and their housing assignments will only be cancelled if they are not enrolled in classes or have been approved to live off campus.
The Department of Residence Life is aware that occasionally a student will find that a room change is necessary. Room changes start the first Friday after classes begin and must be approved by the Department of Residence Life. Room changes made without the department’s approval are subject to a $25 fine. A room change must be completed within 24 hours from the time it is approved. Students must schedule a room inspection with a Resident Assistant (R.A.) to properly check-out. Any student who wishes to change rooms for the spring semester must do so at the Department of Residence Life and complete their move before leaving campus for the holiday/semester break.
Private rooms are assigned on a space available basis. A private room contract addendum, which covers the entire academic year, is signed and an additional private room charge added to the resident’s student account.
Check out procedure
Upon checkout due to a room change or withdrawal, a resident must obtain written room clearance from the R. A. or R. L. C. The room will be inspected for damages and missing property. Rooms are to be left clean with all personal belongings, carpets and extra furniture removed. The resident must sign the room condition form and turn the key into the residence hall office. Failure to check out properly with the R.A. or R.L.C. may result in improper checkout and/or lock recore charges. It is the resident’s responsibility to make an appointment to check out with an R.A. or R.L.C.
