Graduate Admission/Readmissions
Winthrop University admits qualified applicants and offers equal educational opportunities
regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, or disability.
All newly admitted students attending on-campus classes must meet the mandatory
immunization requirements prior to registration. All readmitted students must
check with Health Services
(803-323-2206) to update their immunizations prior to registration.
Students who did not attend Winthrop in the
Spring 2008
semester as a regular graduate student must be admitted to the
Summer or Fall 2008 semester prior to registering
for courses. Most students enrolled in
Spring 2008
who are continuing in good standing without change of status should
require no admission action for the
Summer or Fall semesters.

Course Load
A graduate student

of graduate work in a regular semester is classified as full time;
a normal course load is 9 to 12 semester hours of graduate work.

Graduate Registration Procedures
Academic Advising
Before registering,
each degree-seeking student, with the assistance of an academic
advisor, must plan a Fall 2008 course
schedule and enter it on the Advisement and Registration form
(which is supplied by the advisor). Only those students who present
a completed form, signed by the advisor, will be permitted to register.
It is the responsibility
of all students, both full time and part time, to schedule an
advising appointment before the time they plan to register. Students
planning to register during Early Registration should make an
appointment for advisement during the designated advising period.
Graduate advisement may continue through the semester; however,
early advisement is recommended.
Transient students
and non-degree students should contact the Graduate
School
for registration information. Prior to registration, all students
must provide Health Services with verification of the required immunizations. This is a mandatory requirement.
How to Register

Schedule an appointment
with your faculty advisor. If you do not know who your advisor
is, contact the Graduate School. With your advisor's
assistance, plan your schedule for the semester. List all

you secure your advisor's signature.
-
Register during
the registration times noted in the current
online Schedule of Courses
bulletin.
-
You may register
using Wingspan.
For assistance, please contact the Office of Records & Registration.

or you may validate your schedule online via the Cashier's Office
website.
