Announcement

November 5, 2013

I am pleased to share with you some recent news out of the Office of the President. Effective Friday, November 1, 2013, Dr. Kimberly Faust, who for the last nine years served as Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees, has taken on some new responsibilities that warrant a title change to Chief of Staff.

The Chief of Staff responsibilities will include many aspects of Kimberly’s previous position.  She will continue to serve as Secretary to the Board of Trustees.  And, she also will remain as Title IX Coordinator for the University.   As such, she ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies as specified by the Office of Civil Rights and U.S. legislative codes.  She monitors the timeline of investigations to ensure progress in a timely manner and brings various Winthrop units in on the process as necessary.

In the newly expanded role, Kimberly will also serve as my principal aide, anticipating and preparing me to deal with a range of faculty, staff, student, and Board of Trustees issues.  As my Chief of Staff she will directly handle matters of institutional importance on my behalf and assist with the development and implementation of core University initiatives with my office and the President’s Advisory Council.  Kimberly will also oversee recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of Office of the President staff and manage staff members’ activities to effectively accomplish our shared goals and objectives.

This new Chief of Staff title captures the full scope of Kimberly’s work in the President’s Office.   I have full confidence in her ability to carry out these new duties and continue the good work that has characterized our association since I was named President.  Please support Kimberly by providing your assistance and expertise if she makes requests of you on my behalf in the future.
