October 8, 2013
Today I'm "walking on sunshine" again, as October 8th marks my 100th day as Winthrop University's president. I can definitely say, "it’s starting to feel good!" I have found that each day, my pride grows at all the good work happening here to create a uniquely wonderful Winthrop experience for you as students. I've found myself waiting expectantly to hear about the latest accomplishment for this fine university and its people. Yet I also recognize that Winthrop’s current achievements reflect a long tradition of excellence that I feel lucky to have inherited in my role as president.
As we look together to the future and the excitement builds for the opportunities ahead, I invite you to take a few minutes to review the highlights and achievements from the 2012-13 academic year which ended on June 30 -- just over 100 days ago. Winthrop's latest annual report – a short, video-based account of the year's points of pride – emphasizes the ongoing work that makes this university so remarkable. All of the accomplishments you see mentioned in the video underscore a commitment on the part of our faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends to contribute in ways, big and small, to the university's mission. That mission is to produce graduates who are prepared for successful careers, engaged in our democratic society, responsive to local and global concerns, and grounded in values that give meaning to their lives.
Now if that doesn’t make you want to walk on sunshine, I don’t know what will. Help spread the word about the good things happening here by sharing this link on social media and/or email. I look forward to seeing you on campus or in the community soon!
