As Winthrop's new president, my first and highest obligation is to get the academic year off to a good start and set a working agenda that includes meeting with you and all of our constituents to discuss our opportunities to "refresh, renew, and rise." While this is a top priority for me, I also recognize that several promising community partnerships and economic development initiatives vital to our university’s future are gaining momentum locally. This important community development work should not be hindered by the demands of a presidential transition on campus.
Therefore, I have asked my husband, Larry Williamson, who has an extensive background in community and government relations, to represent Winthrop in these external partnerships and initiatives. One of the most exciting initiatives born from these collaborations, the Knowledge Park project, is moving forward toward a milestone. As such, it is an appropriate time to inform the campus about progress on the Knowledge Park action plan and to clarify Winthrop's involvement, in and commitments to, this on-going effort.
In a Town Hall meeting, on Monday, September 9th, at 4:30 p.m. in Dina’s Place in the DiGiorgio Campus Center, Larry will provide an overview of the Knowledge Park project, explain Winthrop’s role, discuss the future direction for this initiative, and answer your questions.
Please plan to attend this presentation for all the details on the Knowledge Park project.
