Family Orientation

The Family Orientation program offers parents and family members the opportunity to learn about various campus services, policies and procedures, and also assists them in understanding the challenges their students may face. The goal of Family Orientation is to provide you with the information to help support your student as he/she transitions into the Winthrop community.

Freshmen Family Orientation

Freshmen Family Orientation is held concurrently during the first day of the Freshmen Orientation session for students. Students and families will attend the Welcome to Winthrop Session together and then separate, branching off to their respective Orientations. Freshmen Family Orientation will begin at 8 a.m. and end at approximately 5 p.m.

After your student has registered for Freshmen Orientation, family members may register for Family Orientation by visiting the MyChecklist Web site. The Freshmen Family Orientation fee is $15. Once you register online, your student's account will be charged your registration fees. Family Orientation fees are not refundable.

Transfer Family Orientation

Transfer Family Orientation is held during Transfer Orientation Full Day sessions. Due to the nature of the program, Family Orientation is is not available during the Advising Only sessions. Students and families will attend the Welcome to Winthrop session together and then separate, branching off to their respective Orientations. Transfer Family Orientation will begin at 8 a.m. and run until approximately 4 p.m.

After your student has registered for Transfer Orientation, family members may register for Family Orientation by visiting the MyChecklist Web site. The Transfer Family Orientation fee is $10. Once you register online, your student's account will be charged your registration fees. Family Orientation fees are not refundable.

Fall Family Orientation

Fall Family Orientation is available for family members of Freshmen and Transfer students who attend Fall Orientation (Freshmen Session V and Transfer Session G) on Wednesday, August 14. Students and families will attend the Welcome to Winthrop session together and then separate, branching off to their respective orientations.

After your student has registered for Fall Orientation, family members may register for Family Orientation by visiting the MyChecklist Web site. The Fall Family Orientation fee is $15 for families of freshmen and $10 for families of transfer students. Once you register online, your student's account will be charged your registration fees. Family Orientation fees are not refundable.

Accommodations

Family members attending Freshmen or Transfer Orientation will need to make any overnight arrangements. Accommodations in Residence Halls are only for freshmen attending the two-day summer Orientation.
