Winthrop alumni and supporters raised more than $200,000 during the 2005 50th anniversary to restore the D.B. Johnson Memorial Organ, which is considered to be a regional treasure. The yearlong series of events and fundraisers was a great success with regional concerts presented, positive media coverage, and generous donations to support the cause.
