Meet a Student 

 Janine S. Walker 

Early Childhood Education Major 

I had previously earned a degree and was working full time, but after having my children I was reminded of my desire to teach.  I had always wanted to be a teacher and I knew there was no better place than Winthrop to accomplish that goal. 

When I chose to work toward my second undergraduate degree, I was very glad that the New Start program was there to give me all of the information I needed to get started and answer any questions I had along the way.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Winthrop experience. The University has a wonderful reputation, the campus is a great size and it’s close to home. The faculty and staff have been extremely supportive of my goals and have always been available to help me.

The college experience is an amazing ride no matter how old you are; enjoy every minute of it, learn all you can and remember it’s never too late to follow your dreams!
