Financial Assistance

General Financial Assistance
Many students, including adults, have concerns about the cost of a college education. Winthrop is committed to helping all students find ways to finance their education, whether through scholarships, loans, federal grants, payment plans, or student employment. For more information on financial aid opportunities, contact the New Start Program at (803) 323-2191 or the Office of Financial Aid at (803) 323-2189.
New Start students who are veterans should contact the veterans affairs coordinator at (803) 323-2194 for information on benefits, eligibility, and procedures.
New Start Student Scholarships
In an effort to encourage adult learners at Winthrop and recognize academic excellence, New Start Scholarships are awarded each year based on academic performance and community service. Support is available to freshmen, transfers, and continuing students.
Freshmen, transfer and readmitted students who are admitted by May 31 and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will receive an application by mail in June. Continuing students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of the spring semester will also receive an application by mail in June.
