ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop University police have arrested a
Rock Hill man in connection with a March 26
assault of a student outside of Kinard Hall.
Arrested at his home on Monday afternoon, Loyd Alan Price,
50, of 219 Columbia Ave., was charged with
assault and battery
of a high and aggravated nature. Authorities said that
during the incident, a man grabbed a student by the shoulder
as she exited the building after an evening class and pushed
her against a wall.
"This type of incident is very uncommon on our campus and
because of the cooperation we received from the community,
an arrest was made," said Chief Frank Zebedis. His
office alerted the campus through e-mails and fliers to let
students, faculty and staff know about the assault.
