ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop President Anthony DiGiorgio has been reappointed to a two-year term for the Council of State Representatives for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
His appointment will last through December 2007. The Council of State Representatives is responsible for helping formulate and recommend the public policy agenda of the association, which represents more than 400 public colleges, universities and systems of higher education throughout the United States and its territories.
As a member for South Carolina, DiGiorgio will observe and provide counsel on state higher education trends and issues in the Palmetto State. The council’s next meeting will be April 12-14 at the association’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Now in his 17th year as president of Winthrop, DiGiorgio is the longest-serving president of a public university in South Carolina.
