Winthrop Events Scheduled for Holiday Season

 November and December will be filled with holiday activities around Winthrop's campus.


ROCK HILL, S.C. - The holidays are a special time of the year around the Winthrop campus. From concerts to a pottery sale to the lighting of the Christmas tree on the front campus, there are plenty of opportunities to get  in the holiday spirit. 

Here are the events planned:


• Nov. 27 - Winthrop/Carolinas Wind Orchestra
Byrnes Auditorium, 8 p.m.

• Nov. 28 - Kwanzaa Celebration
McBryde Hall, 6 p.m. reception, 7 p.m. program

• Nov. 29 - Sharon Lund: "Living in the Age of AIDS and Eating Disorders"
Barnes Recital Hall, 8 p.m.

• Nov. 30-Dec. 3 - World AIDS Day play: "tic...tic...BOOM!"
Tillman Auditorium, 8 p.m.
Tickets $5

• Nov. 30 - Atlanta Drumline with comedian Owen Smith
Byrnes Auditorium, 8 p.m.
Tickets $5 with Winthrop ID, $7 general public


• Dec. 1 - Pottery Sale
Rutledge Ceramics Studio, noon-6 p.m.

• Dec. 1 - Art and Design Faculty Exhibition Opening Reception
Rutledge Gallery, 6:30-8 p.m.

• Dec. 1 - Das Puppenspiel's "Puppet Theatre: The Snow Queen"
Plowden Auditorium, 8 p.m.
Tickets $5 with Winthrop ID, $7 general public

• Dec. 1-2 - Olde English Madrigal Feaste
McBryde Hall, 7 p.m.
Tickets $32 tickets must be purchased by Nov. 27, 803/323-2255; subject to availability

• Dec. 1-3 - Senior Dance Showcase
Johnson Theatre, 8 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 2; 2 p.m. on Dec. 2 and 3
Tickets $8 with Winthrop ID, $15 general public

• Dec. 1-Jan. 25 - Winthrop Galleries
"Art and Design Faculty Exhibition," "Phil Moody Exhibition: Carolina Madonnas"
Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

• Dec. 3 - Winthrop Glee Club
Byrnes Auditorium, 4 p.m.

• Dec. 4 - Festival of Carols
Tree Lighting
Tillman front lawn; in case of rain, go directly to Byrnes Auditorium, 6:30 p.m.

• Holiday concert
Byrnes Auditorium, 7 p.m.
Traditional indoor Winthrop musical extravaganza featuring campus and community groups. Families welcome.
