ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop's Department of Theatre and Dance brings to the stage this week Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical "Oklahoma."
Performances will run from Feb. 21-24 at 8 p.m. in Johnson Theatre. Additionally, there will be a 2 p.m. performance on Feb. 25.
Directed by Andrew Vorder Bruegge, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance, this show has been a long-standing audience favorite. Set in the wide open spaces of the west, the show intertwines a simple love story with enduring characters, memorable songs and lively dances, including the dramatic “Dream Ballet” that hints at the dark climax and rough frontier justice of the action. This piece of Americana remains a favorite of every generation of theatregoers.
Admission is $10 with a Winthrop I.D. and $15 for the general public. For tickets, contact the Box Office at 803/323-4014 or e-mail email@example.com.
