ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present the world premiere of “Messiah on the Frigidaire,” a modern comedy about the discovery of Jesus’ appearance on a refrigerator in a local trailer park, March 28-April 1.
Directed by senior theater major Meagan Douglas, the comedy is set in Elgin, S.C. The town is thrown into the evangelical spotlight as a frenzy ensues over religion and commerce. Playwright John Culbertson will attend the opening night’s performance to hold an informal question and answer session after the show.
Performances will run March 28-31 at 8 p.m. in Johnson Theatre. Additionally, there will be a 2 p.m. performance on April 1.
Admission for Wednesday and Thursday is $5 with a Winthrop I.D. and $10 general admission. Friday through Sunday admission is $8 with a Winthrop ID and $15 for the general public.
