ROCK HILL, S.C. - Dustin Evatt, a rising junior from Easley, S.C., will serve a second term as chairman of the Council of Student Leaders and as the student representative to Winthrop’s Board of Trustees.
Evatt, an integrated marketing communication major, was re-elected by members on March 27. The Council of Student Leaders is made up of key student office holders from major student associations. At-large members also can apply for positions, bringing the total membership of the council to more than 40 members.
As chairman this past year, Evatt helped restructure the student government and facilitated discussions on Winthrop’s new housing policy, campus space usage and the new satisfactory/unsatisfactory class policy, which will be implemented in the fall.
Evatt hopes to “make the connection” between last year and the new academic year by working with administrators on the academic calendar proposal to ensure that students are well represented. The Council of Student Leaders also will be discussing the Textile Corridor and the campus vision.
Evatt, the son of Morris and Sandy Evatt, hopes to pursue a career in higher education student affairs. He will be on campus this summer working as an Orientation leader and will volunteer this fall as a peer mentor.
